The One Rule
A standard Sudoku puzzle uses a 9×9 grid, divided into nine 3×3 boxes. Some cells come pre-filled — these are given clues. You fill the rest.
The rule: Every row, every column, and every 3×3 box must contain each digit from 1 through 9 exactly once.
That is the whole game. A cell “sees” every other cell in its row, column, and box. If a digit already appears in any of those three groups, it cannot appear in the cell. Everything else — every technique in this series — is just a clever way to apply that constraint.

Always Start With a Scan
Whatever your level, the first move is always the same: scan before you write anything.
Spend 60 seconds looking for digits that appear 7 or 8 times — one or two placements away from complete. Look for rows, columns, or boxes with only one or two empty cells. These yield free placements that simplify every technique that follows.
A good scan gives you 5–15 free placements. Everything after that is technique.
